Better Digestion Equals Better Health: Watch out for digestive-destroying items that can hinder our bodies from absorbing good nutrients from good foods, says Dr. Dylan Foster

No matter what type of health problems we are dealing with, odds are they originated from something bad we did in the past or are currently doing to our digestive system. Remember the old saying, “You are what you eat”? Well, not only is that 100 percent true, but we are also what we digest, absorb and breathe in, and 80 percent of our immune system is in our gut.

For our bodies to absorb good nutrients from good foods, it can’t be hindered by digestive-destroying items. Unfortunately, there are many things that can harm our digestive system. Some of the more common culprits include processed refined foods, food additives and chemicals, antibiotics, medications, vaccinations, pesticides and genetically modified foods, just to name a few.

As the digestive system deteriorates over time, many people will experience such symptoms as celiac disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, heartburn, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic bloating and food allergies or sensitivities. The typical avenue most people follow in trying to help themselves with their digestive issues is to go through a never-ending series of doctor visits and lots of nutritional supplements and/or medications. Some even revert to surgery.

The not-so-typical avenue that most people completely miss is to go through a protocol of desensitization of negative stimuli; in other words, the reprogramming of the nervous system to once again like the foods that are causing the harm. The most important aspect to address that most doctors miss is the resetting of the nervous system to allergies and sensitivities, or what some refer to as stressors. If the body sees something that we eat as a stressor, such as gluten or dairy, then it will go into a state of conflict.

The more the body is in this state, the more damage takes place and the less our body is able to heal. This leads to many symptoms and diseases. No matter how many digestive supplements we take, nothing will work or help us get better until our body can get out of that state of chronic combat.

If we can get our body to see all foods that are good for us as being beneficial and healthy, instead of being stressful, we will then be able to finally use healthy foods toward positive energy and healing, instead of destruction and inflammation. No matter how bad we may think we are, all we need to do is reset our nervous system to once again like the negative foods and we will then be able to enjoy a normal life and eat normal foods without consequence.

Merely resetting the nervous system is all that is needed in order to get most people feeling, eating and being well once again. However, for others, it is sometimes necessary to utilize a proper nutrition supplementation protocol provided by a trained health care provider that works best if it is created specifically for each individual on a case-by-case basis, because nutrition is what provides the actual healing. We can’t discount nutrition; sometimes it just has to be done at the appropriate time in order to get the maximum results.
