Basic Michael Harner Shamanic Workshop

A workshop, The Way of the Shaman, based on the book by Michael Harner, will be taught by the Foundation for Shamanic Studies (FSS) faculty member Melissa M. Dawahare, NMD, RN, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., September 6 and 7.

The workshop introduces core shamanism, the universal and near-universal basic methods of the shaman to enter non-ordinary reality for problem solving and healing. Particular emphasis is on the classic shamanic journey, one of the most remarkable visionary methods used by humankind to explore the hidden universe otherwise known mainly through myth and dream.

Participants should bring a rattle and/or a drum, a bandana or other eye covering, a rough-surfaced rock approximately the size of a grapefruit (not a quartz crystal), a cushion and/or blanket and a pen and notebook to record their journeys.
