Unity Church of Mesa

Unity Church of Mesa has several exciting events planned for this fall. Psychologist Steven Patrick, Ph.D., will present The Art & Science of Love workshops, which comprise science-based relationship practices developed by the Gottman Institute on September 5, by donation. That will be followed up with a Couples Weekend from October 10 to 12. Cost is $475 per couple and preregistration is required at Gottman.com/events/couples-workshop-mesa-az.

The workshop will present science, mindfulness practices and spiritual principles behind healthy relationships, based on Dr. John Gottman’s empirical research involving more than 3,000 couples spanning four decades. Using Gottman’s methods to analyze an hour of a husband and wife talking predicts with 95 percent accuracy whether that couple will still be married 15 years later.

The Couples Weekend will teach ways to enhance friendship and intimacy, to “turn toward” versus “turn away” when things start to go awry, and to deal effectively with perpetual issues that often end in gridlock and negativity.

A concert of inspirational songs and stories with Karen Drucker, an award-winning songwriter and bestselling author, will be held at 1:30 p.m., September 14. Tickets are $10 to $20 for adults, $5 to $10 under 14. She will also speak at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday services the same morning.

Unity of Mesa celebrates 50 years serving spiritually minded people in the East Valley with a special Jubilee Service at 7 a.m., September 17. Services at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., September 21, will look forward to Unity’s future.

Unity Church of Mesa is an inclusive community that offers a positive path for living. It is based on the teachings of Jesus, from which it explores universal spiritual principles. The church is now led by Rev. Mark Fisk, Rev. Kathryn Kellogg and Rev. Judy Hildebrand.
