Old Town Scottsdale Gets New Spiritual Center
Reverend Bonnie Barnard is the spiritual leader of ImpulsUS, a new global spiritual community with mystical teachings, that holds a meditation at 9:30 a.m. and a celebration service at 10 a.m., on Sundays, at the Hyatt House in Old Town Scottsdale. Barnard and her colleagues envisioned a new spiritual community that is not limited to one religion or doctrine, but a community committed to spiritual practice and being a beneficial presence on the planet.
Barnard had her first direct experience of God at age 5 while watering radishes in her family’s backyard. “I fell onto my knees,” Barnard said, “and felt an invisible embrace of Pure Love. It lasted for one or two seconds, but the memory/feeling is dear to me.” She completed an undergraduate degree in religious studies and a doctorate in divinity, unable to limit herself to any one religion. In 2009 she entered into silence, solitude and spiritual practice for three years.
