As economic growth begins to take off again across the Valley of the Sun, the opportunity to launch businesses focused on healthy and holistic living is experiencing a resurgence as well.

KC Miller, founder of the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, says, “Because we are a nationally accredited college recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, we must keep accurate data on how our graduates are doing. On average, more than 78 percent of all those who complete one of our entrepreneurial focused programs report that they have successfully developed a sustainable business or private practice within a year of graduating. Enrollment into our Holistic Nutrition program is the highest it has ever been in 24 years.”

Here are several new healthy living businesses debuting in the Phoenix-metro area.

Relax in Zero Gravity

Dr. Martha Reed has opened a True REST Arrowhead location at 18589 North 59th Avenue, near Union Hills, in Glendale. The 2,600-square-foot facility features five float pods, two treatment rooms and an oasis room where clients can enjoy tea and reflection time.

True REST is a zero-gravity environment that allows the mind and body to truly rest. Using 1,000 pounds of Epsom salts, the buoyancy of the water makes floating on water feel like floating on air, helping to relieve pain, relax, recover and improve sleep. Float therapy is a powerful tool for wellness, relaxation, pain relief and better sleep. A float session is usually about 60 minutes in length, but the frequency of visits depends upon the individual needs.

Reed also moved her holistic health practice, Insights for Life, next door, with services that support mental, emotional, spiritual and physical wellness. Mother's Day and other special offers are available.
