Choose Your Own Customized Massage Career Path
The Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA), in Tempe, is enrolling students for morning and afternoon classes in August and October. SWIHA, one of the premiere massage therapy education programs in the U.S., allows students to customize their massage therapy education with modalities such as aromatherapy, cranial unwinding, holistic nutrition, life coaching, natural aesthetics, polarity, reiki, reflexology, spiritual studies, yoga and more. Complementary yoga training begins on June 14.
There are certain required core classes such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, CPR and first-aid, and the remaining hours are based on what the student is intuitively drawn to as their healing expression. Some choose the traditional therapeutic track, while others are focused on energy work, which includes reiki, polarity or cranial unwinding.
As with all SWIHA diploma and degree programs, the school strives to bring out individual gifts and not dictate exactly which classes to take. There are 13 different certificate of excellence programs or areas of specialization for someone taking these professional massage programs to choose from.
