Nancy McCarthy, LMT, CPMP, is a reiki master and owner of owner of Specialized Bodywork, in Chandler. She provides Swedish and therapeutic massage, Usui reiki, Healing Touch, CranioSacral Therapy, acupressure and chakra balancing and specializes in plantar fasciitis, TMJD, anxiety and nausea.
“I practice an integrative model of bodywork where multiple modalities may be combined within a session. Each session is completely individualized, depending on the physical, mental/emotional and spiritual needs of the client that day,” says McCarthy. “A client may also choose to have a full session of one particular modality. Targeted sessions are shorter and focused on one particular area or issue. The intake process will help to determine what each session will include and set goals for that session.”
She graduated with honors from Arizona School of Massage Therapy and is an integrative therapies team leader at Integrative Touch for Kids, providing services at Banner Diamond Children's Hospital, in Tucson. McCarthy studied CranioSacral Therapy at the Upledger Institute, as well as Biodynamic CranialSacral Therapy for Pediatrics with Michael Shay.
McCarthy says, “There is joy in the giving and the receiving. Every body remembers what true health is, given time, space and a bit of encouragement. I work with the whole person in body, mind, heart and spirit. I help children and adults explore avenues to well-being by using a variety of tools and techniques which empower them with choices to relieve pain, ease anxiety, reduce nausea and soothe the mind and spirit. I invite the bodies—the physical and energy bodies—into health and balance. I practice integrative sessions that use touch and non-touch techniques that feel good, and enjoy educating my clients about healthy self-care techniques that may help them.”
In addition to massage and acupressure, “We may use reiki, chakra balancing and sound sessions to help clients return to balance and feel relaxed in deep and profound ways,” she states. “We may try visualization or Healing From The Core techniques, opening to the possibility of the release of old stored trauma and freedom from old patterns.”
