The Joys of Upcycling Revealed

The Sustainable Communities Arizona Foundation (SC-AZ) presents The Purpose of Repurposing—The Fun Side of Recycling, from 6 to 8 p.m., February 28, at the Granite Reef Center, in Scottsdale, bringing experts that will share fresh and exciting ideas in giving new purpose to things and spaces we might find in households or workplaces.

Participants will explore innovative ways to upcycle items into creative and modern home decor, gifts, remodeling ideas and more. ShopToBeGreen.com will sponsor and provide materials for make-and-take craft projects for kids and families to try for free.

Attendees can visit more than 15 booths with upcycled creations by local artists and businesses providing information on their environmentally conscious products and services and buy raffle tickets for $1 each. Jepco/PROSHRED will provide free unlimited onsite document shredding for individuals and businesses at the event.

Bill Clay, president and founder of SC-AZ states, “Our goal is to showcase local businesses and artists that upcycle existing materials into fun and useful items and artwork giving them new life. From reclaimed wood and wine corks to old bicycles and bike-art, let's explore!”
